The Felidae 1: Laithe's Pride (m/m/f)

Rowan Brandt needs a life...

Rowan is a plain Jane and she’s tired of drawing the short stick when it comes to luck and love. She needs a change of pace, but she definitely isn’t expecting a seven-foot tall, fur-covered man to walk into her life. Not only does he get hair on everything, he also informs her that he will be sharing her with his pride.

Laithe Gatti needs a mate...

With males outnumbering females 10 to 1, his odds are poor that he will find her among his people, the Felidae. His pride is depending upon him to find the one woman that completes them, and the seven men are more than ready to make a few changes among the status quo… particularly when it comes to the sleeping arrangements among them.

And then there's Fahd...

Fahd has been trying to change his position in the pride for years. He has always been in love with his pride leader, but Laithe’s position and Fahd’s temperament ensured they could never be together.

Will the addition of the lovely Rowan change that, especially when she makes it clear that she is more than interested in having them both?

(4 Nymphs) The Felidae 1: Laithe’s Pride is an action-packed paranormal. From her less than happy life, to her potential life beyond earth, Rowan has a very realistic quality in her reactions. Jade Buchanan has woven a creative tale for her characters, both human and alien. The instant chemistry between Rowan and Laithe will capture the reader’s attention and the addition of Fahd will keep them hooked until the end.

(5 Kisses) The Felidae: Laithe's Pride is an intriguing short story and commencement of a new series, which puts a new spin on shape shifting. Jade Buchanan demonstrates quite a vivid imagination and the reader will be immediately caught up with the characters and their passions and imaginations. Passion sizzles, but romance rules, and the variety of characters in this mix will definitely capture and keep the reader's attention. This reviewer is eagerly anticipating the next in The Felidae.

(Blue Ribbon Rating: 4.5) LAITHE’S PRIDE is a fantastic story. It is a promising beginning to Jade Buchanan’s Felidae series.  This book introduces the pertinent characters and the interesting and exciting world that Laithe and his people inhabit. The author has laid the groundwork for the Felidae series in LAITHE’S PRIDE.  She also tells a wonderfully erotic love story that touched my heart and left me wishing for more.

Discovering the similarities and the differences between Rowan and the Felidae Pride was tremendously fun and entertaining.  I certainly look forward to reading more about the Felidae and Laithe’s Pride.

(4 Stars) The first book in the Felidae series, Laithe’s Pride has a little bit of humor and enough bisexual sex to get the senses rolling.  There is plenty of background provided, which creates a thorough understanding of the reason behind the creation of Laithe’s pride.  Laithe and Fahd, who have had a preexisting relationship from years past, seemed more interested in each other than in Rowan, but when Laithe and Fahd interact together, it’s a burning pile of manly love.  Perhaps with Jade Buchanan’s next entry into the Felidae series, we will see even more of this remarkable world.

LAITHE’S PRIDE is the first in a new series by Jade Buchanan and if this book is a good indication of the author’s talents, I’ll definitely be looking out for the rest of The Felidae series. Rowan is an adventurous woman, and despite the surprising circumstances and men that she finds herself surrounded by, she faces her future with admirable equanimity (and no lack of anticipation). Together these three burn up the sheets and create a trio that you won’t soon forget.

Jade Buchanan is a talented new author and has created many unique characters and a storyline that's entertaining. Book 2 in The Felidae, ASAD'S MATE, is coming soon. Don't miss LAITHE'S PRIDE, as it's a great book (especially for all of you who are fascinated by cats).

Laithe’s Pride, the first book in The Felidae series, is a fascinating novel set in a new and creative world. I loved the emotion between Laithe and Rowan.  The addition of Fahd only adds to the heat level in this already hot book.

Ms. Buchanan has set things up nicely for a series of books about The Felidae that is sure to entertain and excite us for some time.  I highly recommend Laithe’s Pride.

With a dynamite combination of passion and adventure Laithe's Pride is a fantastic start to the Felidae series.  Rowan is a strong woman able to accept not just the massive changes in her reality but also accept her desire for a totally alien species.  Laithe is a total Alpha male and a prince amongst his people but his sweet and gentle nature in dealing with his pride and Rowan will win your heart in no time.  Fahd is determined and as such can come off a little brisk at times however, when gentleness is required the strong Pardus has no problems releasing his Beta nature.  No matter what combination of lovers occur, the sensuality of Laithe's Pride is sure to raise your temperature.  Many lovable secondary characters and a whole world of Felidae males in need of mates ensure Ms. Buchanan is sure to write more books in the Felidae series.  With an exciting twist at the end that will have us waiting on the edge of our seat for the next book, I can only hope that Ms. Buchanan doesn't keep us on edge for long.

Rowan stumbled up the last step into her apartment. She was miserable, bone- tired, and although the numbing on the side of her face had worn off, she now had to deal with the residual ache in her tooth and her cheek.

To make matters worse, because she’d been late for her appointment, she’d also been late for work, and her boss refused to listen to her reason why.

She’d ended up having to stay late to make up for her error. The day had completely dragged, and her eyes were strained from looking at so many pages of paper. Working in a law office sounded great, until you considered her job as a photocopier.

Letting herself into the front door of her apartment, Rowan dropped her bag on the linoleum floor and kicked off her shoes. Stumbling, she pulled off first one, and then the other trouser sock, balling them up and throwing them into the laundry basket situated in the small storage room off the front hall.

She wandered into her bedroom, undressing as she went, leaving a trail of clothes behind her from the front door. Her bra and panties were the last things to drop, falling to the floor of her bedroom.

Too tired to pick any of it up, she merely left everything where it fell. Rowan grabbed a long-sleeved, plum colored shirt out of her dresser, matching it up with a pair of thin, black yoga pants. Choosing to go barefoot, she wandered into the living room. Grabbing the yoga mat curled up in the corner of the room, she unfolded it onto the floor.

Turning the TV on and lying down on her back, she attempted to calm her mind, letting go of the stress of the day. Although she was new to this, she had to admit it felt good to try and influence her body to relax by releasing her mind first. Another few years of practice and she’d be able to pull up that sense of calm immediately whenever she needed it.

Stretching gradually, Rowan began to move through her poses, following the instructions on the DVD. As she moved her leg out into a lunge, she began to relax, the stress of the day starting to melt away.

She slowly pushed herself up into downward facing dog, straightening her legs and pressing her hips up and back. The stretch ran the length of her aching body, and muscles that had been tense all day protested the movement. She let out a little moan.

“Mmm, I like the look of that, Lev.”

Rowan squealed at the male voice coming from behind her, followed by several deep male chuckles. Twisting desperately to look behind her, she lost her balance, falling to her side and landing on her ass with her legs up into the air.

“I don’t know, Morgan. I think I like the look of that even better.”

Rowan stared up at the shapes crowding into her small living room, appearing to suck up every available space.

Terrified, she locked eyes on the figure who stood at the front of the group. When he stepped into the light, all she could see at first was how big he was. And then she gasped when his body came fully into view.

He wasn’t human. He couldn’t be human. He had to be something else. Who the hell was this guy? She tensed, staring up at him, praying that he wasn’t going to hurt her.

Before she could panic further, he leapt the distance between them, landing crouched between her legs, pressing something against her temple.

Rowan stared up at him shocked, frozen when her vision started to fade. She couldn’t focus on anything, her muscles refused to cooperate when she tried to move. Panicking, everything went black.
