Pridelands 4: Griffin's Joy

Griffin and Mazin Bolen share everything. The twins joined Durai’s pride together, and ever since have been dedicated to the Leo’s that have become their family. They certainly never expected to meet hairless creatures so different from themselves, but when they’re stranded on Earth, that isn’t the only surprise they have in store for them.

Joy Coleman just wanted a little peace and quiet from her hectic life. When a frantic call from her brother Mike sends her running up to Northern B.C. Joy finds out peace and quiet aren’t exactly in her future. She's instantly drawn into the search for Achan, the missing Leo, but it's two very different catmen who really capture her attention.

Griffin and Mazin have finally found a woman who completes them both. All they have to do is seduce her. Easy, right? Not if Joy has her way.

Griffin's Joy has been a long time coming for me! When Laithe's Pride was first written, I had no idea what to do with it until I sent it to a friend and she hissed at me for more. I wouldn't be writing if it wasn't for her. This one is for Joy :)

Reviews

5 blue ribbons! THE PRIDELANDS 4:  GRIFFIN’S JOY was an awesome read.  It’s my first adventure into the series and I absolutely loved it.  I will definitely try to find the first three in the series.  Ms. Buchanan grabbed my attention from the first words.  I like that it had comical elements to it as well as passion.  It’s a keeper.  I’ll have to recommend this as a favorite read.

4.5 Nymphs! Jade Buchanan definitely makes the men from the Prideland something to be proud of. Griffin and Mazin are opposites in ways but were of the same accord when it came to Joy. I knew it was tough for them to see so many others find their mates and not have someone of their own. I loved the fact that they identified who she was and took charge from there. Joy knew she never had one man who could make her feel the way Griffin and Mazin did, and recognized the gift of their caring. You’ve written a wonderful story Ms. Buchanan.

Ring ring. Ring ring.

Joy Coleman tapped her foot, impatiently waiting for her brother to pick up his cell.

“Hello?” Mike’s voice was tight, as if he’d run to catch the phone.

“So, I’m sitting there in the airport, waiting for my luggage to get loaded and what do I see?”

“Joy?”

“Who else? Anyway, I watch the little luggage cart pull out, and I can tell it’s mine since I’ve never met anyone else who carries a bright teal suitcase. The place was packed, our plane was running late and a bunch of us were standing around staring out the window.

“It’s raining, of course, and the darn cart starts to skid on the wet pavement. A bunch of suitcases fell off the cart and of course mine just happened to pop open like a fat woman released from a corset --”

“Jesus, Joy.”

“I know! My undies are lying there on the tarmac, getting soaked. Everyone’s laughing and some jerk behind me is making comments about wanting to meet the woman who wears lace and carries a… well, let’s just say I had something else in the suitcase that requires a few batteries--“

“Fucking Christ.” Joy grinned, hearing the pained exasperation in her brother’s voice.

“I was humiliated. I’m telling you, I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life. We arrived in Edmonton and half the plane decided to wait around and see who picked up the damaged suitcase. I must have spent fifteen minutes in the bathroom waiting for them to give up and walk away. Bunch of buttheads.”

“Why are you telling me this?”

“Because after my humiliating ordeal, I finally got to my apartment and picked up Spotty and I’m now sitting here waiting for you.”

“What?”

“I’m at the airport.” She waited. Silence stretched out. “In Fort Nelson.”

Dead air was her only answer.

“Mike, you still there?”

“You’re here?”

“Isn’t that what I just said?”

“Here? In Fort Nelson, at the airport?” What, was he deaf now?

“I really don’t get what’s so hard to understand, Mike. I need my favorite brother to come pick me up.”

“I’m your only brother.”

“Doesn’t mean you can’t be my favorite.”

Mike must have covered the speaker because Joy heard furious whispering too low for her to make out the words.

“Miiiike?” Tapping her foot, Joy tried to ignore the pitiful mewling coming from the cat carry beside her.

“Look, Joy, if you can get a ride into my apartment you can stay there for a bit. Just a bit. I-I, look, this isn’t the best time…”

“Michael Coleman, you better explain that right this minute or I’m calling Mom to tell her you won’t come pick me up.”

“Why don’t you just call her anyway, tattletale.”

“She’s not home, why do you think I’m calling you. I already tried their number. Why can’t you just pick me up?”

“I’m not at home, I’m at the cabin.”

“The cabin? Aaron?” Freezing in place, she waited to hear his words.

“Look, uh, it’s not something we should talk about on the phone.”

“You found him? Please tell me you found him! Is he okay? Is Darren still there? Is everyone okay?”

Mike sighed. “Can you get a ride to the cabin?”

“Mike! Aaron?”

“He’s alive, and he’s here.”

“Oh…” Joy pressed her palm to her chest, breathing deeply. Tears threatened, her breath coming out in gasps. Sugared almonds, she was not going to cry. Turning around, she faced the wall. “He’s alive?”

“He’s here, Joyful. You should come.”

“I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

“I’ll explain everything when you get here. Promise.”

“You better, Mike. It better be good or I’ll kick your butt from here to Sunday for scaring me like that.”
