(4 Angels!) This was a fun little romp from the talented Jade Buchanan. I’ve been a fan for a long time, and Dreaming of Harmony didn’t fail to please. I can completely understand how Erin felt; I too would be completely freaked out if I opened a paper to read the obituaries and found my own name staring back at me. But that’s just the impetus she needs to rethink the path her life has taken. Not much is given about Harmony other than her physical description but that’s fine. She is only there to emphasize the different choices Erin has to make in her life. She can choose the path of harmony with Harmony or be forever bereft and alone if she takes the other path. There was a sensual scene, and it was well written, as is always the case with Ms. Buchanan. It enhanced rather than detracted from the story and as is the case with all dreams, it allowed Erin to be freer than she would have been awake. Dreaming of Harmony just goes to show that love has no boundaries when it comes to race or gender.

Though fans of lesbian eroticism will delight in this quick story, the romance of it will appeal to many. Erin is rather typical in the sense she’s a bit down on herself which accounts for her not acting on her feelings for Harmony and needing fate to step in, though she is a likable character nonetheless.  I rather wish we had learned more of Harmony before the story got down to the nitty-gritty, but other then that Jade Buchanan has crafted a well written story that flows nicely and has the interesting addition of the post obit Erin May who has quite the feisty personality.

Erin tilted her head, watching the slide of her skirt as it inched up her thighs. Harmony Abrams was definitely a beauty, and she wasn’t even aware of it, which made it all the more intriguing. With a figure more suited to the old erotic standards of the ‘30s and ‘40s than to today’s standards, she was soft and feminine. Her breasts were small, her waist narrow, but her hips were lush. She reminded Erin of the old naked pinups she used to sneak peaks at whenever she went to her grandparents’ place. Her grandpa had tons of old pictures in his garage, naked ladies cavorting across the pages, and Erin used to stare at them for hours when she could.

Harmony straightened, turning to reveal a pale pink camisole under her prim pinstriped suit jacket. Her skirt settled, coming to rest just above her knee. Four inch black heels completed the picture, little bows adorning the toes. That shouldn’t turn her on. Christ, what was wrong with her that little bows could turn her on? Erin sighed.

Erin considered her own outfit. She was currently wearing a thin red tank over a wide peasant skirt in a multitude of bright, cheerful colors. Ballet flats finished it off, along with a jangle of gold bracelets and thick, hanging gold hoops at her ears. They were certainly opposites when it came to their clothing. And their temperaments, and their… well. They didn’t have much in common. Not that she’d tried very hard to find something in common. Harmony was out of her league. No doubt about it. Better not to even think about having something with her.

Just take their jobs. Right now, Harmony was on her way to a corner office downtown. She’d sit behind her cushy desk, and delegate all day. Nothing wrong with that but it was light years away from what Erin was going to do. Sure, there was nothing wrong with working in a library. But, geez. It wasn’t as if they had anything to talk about at the end of the day.

“Hey honey, how was your day?” Erin muttered. “Oh, it was fine. I signed a six figure deal today. How was yours? Oh fine, I got to chase down some little turd who was trying to steal library books.”

With a shake of her head, Erin turned her attention back to the window. She was utterly pathetic but she couldn’t take her eyes off Harmony. Even if nothing would ever happen, it couldn’t stop her from looking. And hoping.
